Symposium Announcement Biological Sciences for the 21st Century: Meeting the Challenges of Sustainable Development in an Era of Global Change
Register Today: http://www7.nationalacademies.org/IUBS/Registration.html
How can cutting-edge biological research address critical needs for sustainability in:
* Advancing population health? * Developing sustainable energy solutions? * Promoting food security? * Conserving ecosystem services?
Learn from leading international scientists how key research advances can be applied to achieve these goals. Be inspired that your own research can be both technically advanced and socially relevant.

Poster Session: Do you have a current research project that demonstrates the application of an area of biology to addressing one of these needs? Submit an abstract for competition for selection for poster presentation! Recognition will be given to the top posters from younger investigators. http://www7.nationalacademies.org/IUBS/Poster_Session.html
Symposium Details: Dates: May 10-12, 2007 Location: Capital Hilton Hotel, Washington, D.C. Sponsored by: The International Union of Biological Sciences (IUBS), as part of its 29th General Assembly, May 9-13, 2007, and hosted by the National Academy of Sciences through its U.S. National Committee to IUBS. Further details including the preliminary symposium schedule are available at http://www7.nationalacademies.org/IUBS .
The IUBS is an international non-governmental organization founded in 1919 to promote and facilitate research in the biological sciences (http://www.iubs.org). Membership is held by 44 Ordinary Members, adhering through Academies of Sciences, National Research Councils, national science associations or similar organisations, as well as 80 Scientific Members, all of which are international scientific associations, societies or commissions in the various biological disciplines. The U.S. National Academy of Sciences is the official adhering body to the IUBS on behalf of the United States. |
