2009 L'Oreal Fellowships for Women in Science PDF Print E-mail

L'Oréal is now accepting applications for its 2009 Fellowships for Women in Science.  The fellowship program awards grants -- from $40,000 to $60,000 -- to five female researchers each year who are pursuing careers in science, math, engineering, or computer sciences.  The selection is based on proposed research projects and eligibility according to stringent criteria.

As an affiliate of the Washington Academy of Sciences, all DC AWIS members are invited to participate as a 2009 Judge in a S.T.A.R.S. Science Fair at one of the greater Washington (D.C., Suburban Maryland, or Northern Virginia) schools. WAS Affiliate participants (such as DC AWIS members) have enjoyed and greatly enhanced the professionalism and quality of this K-12 initiative.

CAREER WORKSHOP FOR GIRL SCOUTS IN GRADES 2-6
Sunday, November 9, 2008, 3-5 p.m., in Oakton, Virginia

Inviting women to talk about their careers in science, engineering, and architecture, public service, law, health and medicine, social sciences, arts and entertainment, and business ownership. In small groups, girls will take turns interviewing each participant and will have sample questions to ask.
