Duties:

Support GWIMS as Group Executive Secretary. Analyze, interpret, and report annual Women in Medicine Statistics and related benchmarking studies. Report trends regarding gender and its relationship to recruitment, retention, advancement, and leadership in medicine, science and higher education. Serve as liaison to WLO at member organizations. Direct and serve as faculty member for professional development programs, specifically EWIM and MWIM. Collaborative activities across AAMC including participation in team meetings; participate in activities and projects of OV as required for team effectiveness; participate in collaborative activities across the AAMC. Daily interaction with AAMC staff and personnel at member organizations, federal agencies, professional societies; daily interaction with faculty at medical schools, teaching hospitals and research institutes. Presentation and representation of the Group on Women in Medicine and Science (GWIMS) to medical schools, teaching hospitals, professional societies, federal agencies, and other education and policy groups.

Requirements:

Graduate degree - PhD, MD, or equivalent preferred. Five to seven years as a faculty member in an academic medical center or teaching hospital; experience in medical school faculty affairs preferred. Record of scholarship in women’s studies, issues of gender equity, professional advancement of women in higher education, especially in medicine, science, or other health professions; experience in professional development, educational consultation, management and leadership in higher education preferred
